With the holiday season finally upon us, alcohol can be the undoing of even the most committed dieter. It contains mostly empty calories, with the exception of a small amount of wine. but, that doesn’t mean you have to cut it out of your life completely, indulging is still very necessary plus who doesn’t love happy hour?
So, with the aim of staying healthy and festive this season, I’ve put together a list of some pretty good low calorie drinks that are also super easy to order. Obviously the more you drink, the more calories you consume. 🙂
White and red wine
75-105 calories, for less calories, pick drier varieties
85 calories a glass
Gin, vodka, rum, whisky, tequila, brandy and cognac are all 65 calories
Vodka and sprite zero at 100 calories
Gin and tonic (substitute with soda water) at 100 calories
Rum and diet coke at 96 calories
Light beer at 110 calories per drink: OK so technically this isn’t 100 kcal, but compared to regular beer, it’s a better option.
Other ways to avoid consuming more calories
- Choose mixers low in calories like diet coke, tonic, tea, light cranberry, lemon or lime juice.
- Try taking your drinks on the rocks, i.e without mixers
- Dilute your drinks, try sparkling water instead of regular water, or even wine.
- Drink non-alcoholic drinks, in between alcoholic ones. This also helps prevent the risk of a hangover the following day
So what do you do to reduce the calories in your drinks? Let me know in the comments
