We discovered Sheikh Saeed’s home quite by accident, originally we came to visit the heritage village, but couldn’t because sadly, it was under renovation. After walking around for a bit, we came across this historic residence. As you know, historical places of interest fascinate me, I’m always on the lookout for all things vintage whether it be through fashion, art, food or architecture.
The sheikh Al Maktoum’s residence, was no different. Built in 1896 at the Al shindagha area, somewhere in between Deira and Bur Dubai, it was the home of the Al Maktoum family, (the ruling family) until 1958. It is considered a prime tourist attraction, and is currently used as a museum to depict the history of Dubai. It displays lots of historic photographs, antique coins and stamps, authentic jewelry and a rare collection of official historic dubai documents.
For this excursion, I wore a simple white shirt, tucked into a brown pleated skirt and a pair of black lace up flats. I accessorized with a small square scarf.
